We love our kids, don’t get us wrong, but there are times that they drive us crazy. Especially when they are trying to talk to us when we’re working on something on deadline. Don’t lie – there are some times when you wish they were just a little older so that they could occupy themselves more. Well, this video that features the song “Slow Down” might make you feel a little differently.
The video shows several families as their children navigate certain ages. Babyhood, toddlerhood, being a tween, being a teen, and having their father walk them down the aisle for their wedding. It always circles back to their childhood. We want that time to slow down. Those innocent years need to be set in slow-motion. Parents will always see their children as just that… even when they are full-fledged adults themselves with children of their own. Then those parents get to do some more with their grandchildren.
One of the biggest regrets a parent has is when they wish their child was older than they currently are. Guess what? That time’s going to get there… and the in-between years aren’t going to come back. Then that feeling that’s in the pit of their stomach? Crushing regret. Don’t let that be you. You’ll regard your screaming six-year-old as an angel when they become a moody teenager.
Any parent who watches this is will be ruminating about times in their children’s lives, how it seems like it was just yesterday that they were bringing that little tiny one home from the hospital. Then they open their eyes and see the older child there in front of them. Unfortunately, life doesn’t have a rewind button. We can’t go back and relive those times. So we need to cherish them while they are happening… even if they are frustrating at the moment. It’ll pass.
