Billy Ray Cyrus performs ‘SOME GAVE ALL’ in honor of our US military

Billy Cyrus met with a former US marine, Sherman Gillum Jr., before performing at the freedom concert. Cyrus conversed heartily with him and said, “God bless you, sir,” while shaking his hands.

The video shows Gillum trying to go backstage. Finally, he was able to join Cyrus on stage for a tribute song to honor the military. The song was titled “Some Gave All.”

“To the men and women out there and all the families, thank you for your service to this great country,” Cyrus said. “God Bless America. ‘Some Gave All’ is for you tonight.”

Gillum and a fellow marine were invited to join Cyrus, and the crowd paid their homage. Solemnly, Cyrus began to play “Some Gave All,” and the crowd was dead silent.

We got teary eyes and goosebumps on our hands when we heard Cyrus sing the lyrics:

“All gave some, some gave all.
Some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me, think of all your liberties
And recall, some gave all.”

“Some Gave All” is a fantastic song. It helps us recall the significance of our military and appreciate all soldiers — past, present, and future—and the ultimate sacrifice paid by some of them.

The song was released about 25 years ago, but Cyrus still frequently sings it in most live performances. “Some Gave All” was included in his excellent debut album of 1992.
