Writers have been using puns for centuries. In fact, puns, or a play on words, were heavily used in ancient Egypt to interpret dreams. Shakespeare often used puns in his plays, many times for comedic effect.
This video is a compilation of some hilarious road signs put up on roadsides across America. These funny signs can brighten the day of anyone passing by.
The Indian Creek Community Center decided to use its sign for such a purpose and created some of the funniest puns we’ve ever read.
The first sign featured in the video reads, “What do you call a hippy’s wife? Mississippi.” With these charming jokes, the signs are really making people smile.
Some of the puns you really have to think about, like “I have a fear of over-engineered buildings. It’s a complex complex complex.” Certainly, some drivers have to repeat the joke to themselves a few times after driving by.
Others are simpler one-liners, like “Do memory foam mattresses wish they could forget?” Or, “If a cow doesn’t produce milk, is it a milk dud or udder failure?”
Whoever is responsible for creating these signs brings a lot of joy to the community members on their daily commute. Sometimes a simple pun can really make your day.
